I am so happy to be one of the few bloggers to write about SALT first. :> See what I’ve written about them here on wheninmanila.com . Here’s my other take on SALT steakhouse and why foodies need to visit it NOW.


1. Money is not a problem

Being a college student has its ups and downs. Most working people say that they miss studying and their allowance but from a college student’s point-of-view  studying just gets… BLAH at times. And allowance is really very limiting that’s why SALT steakhouse is perfect even for college students on a budget. For 190 Php I can order a big, tender and delicious T-bone steak. See, no money? no problem!


T-bone steak (190 Php)  comes with rice, a potato salad side dish and a sauce of either bbq, gravy or pepper cream.


2. They have GENEROUS servings and by that I mean BIG servings.

This photo has no special effects or anything.The angle is just slightly off top view and slightly close-up but despite that this piece of  perfectly grilled Cajun Chicken (180 Php) managed to take up the whole photo, and the big plate.


3. The dishes make you speechless.

It’s funny because I personally know Jobet , one of the three owners of SALT, so when he accommodated us in our visit we just kept on talking and laughing about various things. When the food arrived we fell silent and just kept on eating–basking in the glory of all the wonderful tastes in our mouths. The proteins have their own “partner” side dish and all three are perfectly married to each other. For me, the grilled Tuna (220 Php) and it’s partner homemade atsara & and vinegar sauce stood out the most.


4. They grill fresh and locally imported meat.

I love restaurants that help the local community. It makes me hella proud to eat a nice piece of meat and say, hey this is from the Philippines and it tastes better than those from outside the PH. I guess it all boils down to how you cook it, yes? Well, SALT mastered that as well.


5. They have sweet surprises

The steakhouses that I’ve eaten in mostly have the typical desserts but SALT steakhouse begs to differ. This Chocolate tartufo ball with a tart cherry in the middle and the unique take on Frozen Brazo de Mercedes makes it in my top favorite desserts of all time. These two sweet surprises definitely makes a sweet ending to your steak indulgence.

So that’s it! My 5 reasons why FOODIES NEED TO VISIT SALT. This local steakhouse has been creating a buzz all over the net so you better visit them before stocks run out. (I heard they closed earlier than expected because they ran out of steaks.)
