As I said in my post last night, Hans and I are trying to fatten up our savings account so before we do things we calculate the cost and the “satisfaction rate” given the cost. Haha! We gotta be practical people! Anyway, this trip was actually one of my gifts to him for his bday last April 15. My first gift was his birthday all-meat pizza (not cake), then an accessory set of his favourite movies (evenstar necklace, deathly hollows necklace, the one ring, and a king’s hand pin all from Fandom Trinkets) and this– a day trip to the beach!
Metrodeal’s our go-to website for travel deals because they have more options for travel deals in Philippines compared to other deal websites. I particularly chose the Camaya Coast Day Trip with bus transfer because the travel time from Manila to Bataan was only 3-4 hours and the beach was said to be the “Boracay” of Bataan.
Well, in real life the travel time was 6 freaking hours. I never knew we could last that long inside a bus. There were 2 stopovers during the trip and the driver drove at the right speed level. The whole trip was comfortable except for the zigzag part and the part where we had to hear the complaints of the other day trippers (what do we call ourselves? haha). Good thing Hans and I felt good that day so the negatrons had no effect on us.
Camaya Coast was a beach inside a private property , a soon-to-be village of some sort with 1 hotel inside for guests, restaurants and concessionaires, pool, live music, pool, etc. The place was not that packed when we arrived and it was a very sunny day– a good day to bathe in the sea under the sun.
The deal included free lunch (which was a buffet type of good ‘ol lutong bahay), uses of one of their amenities for 30 mins such as kayak, biking, and snorkeling, and bus transfers. All in all it was worth less that 2k per person which I think is okay for a well-maintained beach like this.
We chose to ride the Kayak and we were basically PROs at it until the kayak flipped upside down because the water went inside the kayak. 😦 Good thing we did not panic and pushed the kayak back to shore. #pros. HAHA
What I love most about Camaya Coast is their service, every person we encountered there were attentive and respectful. However, we have to give minus points for the super long travel time (2x longer than travel time said in the deal) and the food. The lunch was good, but the food served by Camaya itself (the ones we ordered for merienda and were not part of the deal) were not delicious. We just forced ourselves to finish it because we knew it was gonna be a long ride home. Also, the deal said there would be fire dancers and live music at night. The daytrippers left at around 7pm so we did not witness any of that. (we hope it was said in the voucher.)
Overall, the trip was good because we didn’t expect much. We just wanted a nice clean beach and we got that in Camaya Coast. But if you seek more than this, best to buy other deals. Opt for an overnight deal or a trip to the mountains.
Let me know how it went!
