I’ve been following Stacey Simón on the ‘gram for quite some time now and I got excited that she agreed to be featured here on my humble blog. For those of you who don’t know who she is yet, well, you’re missing out. She’s a Canadian Beauty & Lifestyle Blogger, with Filipina-Spanish roots, born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Initially, I wanted people to know her story because I found it amazing that from all the foreign beauty bloggers I found online, I’d come across someone Filipina!
Read all about her dream job, top 5 beauty products, and advice to aspiring beauty bloggers.

What was your college course & school?

I went to Seneca College for Cosmetic Techniques and Management, then Hair/Makeup School at Marvel (don’t mistake it for the comics, although I could possibly be a superhero as well), and then I took some courses on Social Media Marketing at University of Waterloo.

Was this your dream job ever since?

Yes! I’ve been writing online and developing personal websites for as long as when MySpace and LiveJournal were still a thing, but at that time no one had a clue that it would turn into an actual occupation someday. Blogging is still a very new profession that not everyone understands, but with enough drive and determination, all things are possible. You have to really enjoy and have a passion for what you’re doing because it WILL take up all your time.

How are you currently building your community/followers?

Instagram is where it’s at these days so I try my best to interact with the community there. Of course, I can’t forget about my actual blog, so commenting back, or hosting occasional giveaways is a great way to give back to my readers as well.

Why do you think beauty is important?

The type of beauty is important. We live in a very beauty conscious world that can be extremely vain at times,  but as clicheas it is to say, beauty is still within. Beauty to me is to show love and respect for others no matter what the differences are – this type of beauty is important to have.

What are the beauty products you can’t live without?

Eyebrow pencil or gel – NYX brow products are my jams.

Blush – specifically Milani’s Luminoso.

Mascara – loving the new L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise.

Bronzer – I’m very loyal to the Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder by Too Faced.

Lipstick – I have way too many favorites, but I often rotate NYX Lip Creams in shades Stockholm, Zurich, and Ibiza.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love the ability to be creative every single day. I have a lot of control on how my photos will look, and how I can express myself in writing. I’m a very stubborn person with it comes to my creativity so I’d say I’m in the right profession 😛

What’s your advice to college students and yuppies who aspire to be in your shoes someday?

Be very, very patient. Being in the first round of millennials was really eye-opening since we’re a very spoiled generation and have so many options to choose now compared to what our parents had. Don’t take anything for granted, take opportunities every chance you get even when you don’t think it will benefit you, don’t lose motivation or give up too quickly, and don’t be afraid to fail. Also, work very hard now… just trust me on this one!

What will we look forward to in your blog in the future?

The cool thing about blogging is that it will lead you into places you didn’t know it would or could go. My blog really has reshaped and pointed me in different directions I’ve been really open to playing around with so I can’t say what will happen in a year from now. Do expect a lot more content though!
